The PhD programme is a research training programme which consists mainly of research conducted under supervision. The number of PhD students at Danish research institutions has greatly increased, and today supervision of PhD students is an important task for professors and lecturers. In many cases PhD students participate in actual collaborative research with their supervisor(s), but where this is not the case, supervision of PhD students may give rise to questions of research ethics.
